1961 Marx, Battery Operated Recoiling Tripod Machine Gun in Original Box

1961 Marx, Battery Operated Recoiling Tripod Machine Gun in Original Box

Pristine battery operated, tripod mounted, recoiling machine gun by Marx, complete and unused in original box. The toy comes with its original swiveling tripod with aluminum reinforced leg brackets. The legs consist of three, 18" painted tubular steel rods with plastic pod feet. The bolt which mounts the gun to the tripod is also original.

This is a "life-size" electric machine gun modeled after the U.S. Army's air cooled .50 cal weapon. It's all hard styrene plastic, painted black and green camouflage and is detachable from the tripod. It has a recoiling barrel and simultaneously produces a loud staccato noise with flashing light. It has a pair of soft plastic hand grips with a very realistic thumb activated trigger. Best of all every function works beautifully!

The cardboard box features three, nearly full panel illustrations of the flashing machine gun in action. It's printed in black, red, yellow, and green on a bright white background.  Instructions for inserting the batteries, changing the light bulb, and tripod assembly are printed on one panel. It also includes the original insert plus the original pillowed paper packing for the legs.

The toy sold through Sears for three years. It originally retailed for $3.89.
